Ahsanul Islam Titu is the state minister for commerce

This information was informed after taking oath of the newly formed cabinet members at Bangabhaban on Thursday (January 11) evening.


36 members of Sheikh Hasina's new cabinet took oath at Bangabhaban in the evening. After that a notification in this regard was issued from the cabinet department.

Cabinet Secretary Md announced the names of ministers and state ministers on Wednesday (January 10) at 8:40 p.m. Mahbub Hossain.

25 Ministers and 11 State Ministers have been appointed by President Md. Sahabuddin. According to the notification containing the list of 36 people, according to clause (2) of Article 56 of the Constitution of Bangladesh, the President has appointed them as Ministers and State Ministers of the Government of Bangladesh on Thursday, January 11.

Ahsanul Islam Haque Titu is a capital market expert and politician. He became a Member of Parliament in the Tangail-6 (Nagarpur-Delduar) constituency on the Awami League ticket in the 11th National Parliament election. Besides, he served as the President of Dhaka Stock Exchange during the period 2013-14. After that, he was again elected as a member of Parliament on the Awami League ticket in the 12th National Parliament election. Titu Thanthi, also known as a businessman, is serving as the Managing Director of Life Insurance Company.

Maqbul Hossain, father of Member of Parliament Ahsanul Islam Titu, was elected Member of Parliament in 1996 from Dhaka-9 Constituency.
Awami League won 222 out of 299 seats in the elections held on January 7. Besides, 62 people won among independents, 59 of them are Awami League leaders. And Jatiya Party won in 11 seats. Awami League's partner party Jasad and Bangladesh Workers Party won two and Kalyan Party won one. Polling for one seat is suspended.

The Election Commission (EC) published the gazette of the election results on January 9 (Tuesday). The newly elected MPs took oath on January 10 (Wednesday), the day after the publication of the gazette. And the cabinet members took oath on Thursday (January 11), a day after MPs were sworn in.
